General Road Repairs

The general road repair and maintenance program is done on a route system. Crews are assigned a specific route each day, with one "miscellaneous" day per week to handle miscellaneous repairs. Every street in the City is being reviewed. If you have questions, please contact the Service Department at 826-5816.

Sidewalk and Apron Repairs

The City is in the process of repairing concrete sidewalks and aprons that were damaged as a result of public improvements. Please be patient. The repairs are being made in the order in which the damage occurred. If you have questions, please contact the Service Department at 826-5816.

Treelawn Repairs

The City is in the process of repairing treelawns that were damaged as a result of snow plowing and/or water-sewer repairs. Once the crew has made the repair, please water your treelawn, as necessary. If you have questions, please contact the Service Department at 826-5816.

Leaf Pickup Schedule

The city will pick up leaves twice on your street each fall. View Schedule.

Annual Hydrant Flushing

The City of Berea annual fire hydrant flushing program typically begins in mid April and is completed in approximately 30 days. Fire hydrants will be flushed between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Hydrant flushing has been done from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. over the past few years, and proved to be an effective way to alleviate the dirty water problems that have occurred in the past. Hopefully, this will be the case this year as well.

Hydrant flushing notification signs will be posted at neighborhood entrances.

As in past years, in addition to exercising the fire hydrants to ensure that they are operating, we will also be flushing water mains to remove any buildup of sediment which may have occurred over the last year. During the flushing there may be some discoloration, therefore, we ask that you do not use your water during these hours unless absolutely necessary. If you do notice any discoloration, let your cold water run for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. If you should encounter any flow restriction after the flushing, please remove and clean all screens and aerators in affected areas.

If you should have any questions or concerns, please call 440-826-5816.

REPORT STREETLIGHT OUTAGES

Streetlight outages can be reported on the Illuminating Company outage automated reporting line at 1-888-LIGHTSS(1-888-544-4877).

Reporting also can be done online: Go online to www.firstenergycorp.com. Click on Customer Care, Online Service Requests, and then Report Streetlight Outage. Click here for direct access to reporting page

When reporting streetlight outages, let them know where the streetlight is located (pole number if there is one), and what is wrong with it (damaged pole, light is off, light fixture is broken, the light comes on during the day, or the light flickers).

Most streetlights can be repaired within a few days, however, sometimes the repairs can take longer if equipment needs to be replaced.
